Albert Patch, a 16-year veteran of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), was killed by an inmate on Aug. 17, 1980. He was breaking up a fight between three inmates when he was fatally stabbed in the chest. In his memory this scholarship has been established. Scholarship is open to family members of staff employed at California Medical Facility (CMF).
